This series of posts was inspired by Lifehacker’s How I Work series, which I’ve been reading for quite some time and thoroughly enjoy. It’s about time we discover how our colleagues work and get to know them a little better.
If you want to participate in this fun series, send us an email at info@linguagreca.com so we can send you the Word template where you can fill in your answers and your bio (incl. your site/blog/social media links) and then send it back to us as an attachment along with your photo (optional but preferred). If you don’t like any of the questions, just delete them and add your own. You can read the previous interviews here.
Location: Ilford, Essex (North-East London)
Desired location: I’m happy wherever I am as long as I can travel!
Current work title: Marketing translation consultant
Desired work title: Marketing translation consultant
Languages you have studied or currently speak: German, English, French, Spanish and Latin. The first three are my working languages.
The project you’re most proud of: Last year, my team and I produced transcreations in German, Chinese, Russian, Hindi and Arabic for Nestlé’s new “Perfect Store” retail concept – the results can now be seen in several airports around the world 🙂
Your current computer setup: Just purchased an all-in-one HP PC (one screen only). I also have a laptop.
Do you own a smartphone? Yes, just traded in an iphone for a Samsung S4 mini.
Favorite time of the day: Hm, that’s a difficult one. Probably depends on what I’m doing. I love sunny afternoons!
Favorite gadget (apart from computer & smartphone): None, I’m not really into technology… A pen and paper (e.g. my diary) will suit me just fine. My cousin said I was born in the wrong century 😉
Next conference/event you’re planning to attend: I’ll be attending my first ever Powwow in London next week. Other than some marketing industry-specific conferences, I’m planning to attend the ProZ.com 2014 International Conference in Pisa – I’ve never been to Italy!
How many hours per day do you usually work: I try to stick to roughly 6-8 hours, although some days it’s significantly less and on others it’s more. I don’t really count blogging, etc., as “working time”, although it’s obviously business-related.
Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I’m more of an extrovert I’d say.
Are you an early-riser or a night-owl? Night-owl, definitely. However, I’m getting better at rising early and I now usually do most of my work during the day, so I’m available for my clients.
What do you listen to while you work? If I’m lucky: birds chirping outside. I find it distracting to work with music.
And a few non-work related questions to get more personal.
Your babies or pets, incl. names and ages: No pets, but hopefully some babies soon 🙂
Next city/country you want to visit: Pisa, Italy!
Favorite vacation place: I love Paphos in Cyprus, but also Carinthia in Austria.
Favorite book: I can’t pick just one. My favourite author is Iny Lorentz – I love reading novels (about women) set in the Middle Ages. One of my favourite personal development books is The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey.
What are you currently reading? Flammen des Himmels (Flames of Heaven) by Iny Lorentz and The Ultimate Sales Machine by Chet Holmes.
