High workload this week has left me no time for blogging, so this morning I decided to skip writing a post for today. Then, I saw this post by Famous Bloggers featuring a map of their Twitter Followers and thought it would be nice to copy the idea 🙂
TweetsMap is a fun and interesting application that allows you to see your Twitter followers’ locations on a global map (by country, state or city) or in a list and a pie chart along with percentages. And it’s free! UPDATE: you need to create a free account to see your followers map.
This is LinguaGreca’s Twitter Followers Map (click on the image to see the online version with more details).
And this is the list of top countries where our followers come from (click on the image to see the online version with more details).
You can also find widgets with code that you can add to your website and/or blog that shows a link directing to your map or list. The application is very useful in terms of geo-location and analytics for your marketing efforts, but I won’t talk about those today, let’s just focus on the fun part. Visit TweetsMap, create your own map and enjoy!
Hi Catherine,
It’s really interesting to see from where you’ve got the most of your Twitter followers, this kind of maps really give a great view, specially using the zoom in and out, I love that!
Hi Hesham, thanks for stopping by 🙂 I agree, this is a great tool, glad I had the chance to share it (thanks to you!).
I am a bit surprised by my results:
United States-14.08%, España-11.33%, Germany-11.33%, United Kingdom-10.42%, Russia-5.85% etc.
How do I have so many spanish-speaking followers?
Spain is high on my list as well (third, over Greece), who knows why. Nice to have Spanish friends even though we don’t speak Spanish, isn’t it? 🙂
Hi Catherine – I love it when you post out of the ordinary and interesting things like this! I’m going to create a tweetsmap for my Twitter account now. 🙂 Thanks!
Hehe, thanks Val, glad you liked it!
